What 2 Pulitzers, 1 National Book Award and 59 years of writing can buy
When Norman Mailer passed away in 2007, he left behind a legacy of both award-winning fiction ("The Naked and the Dead") and nonfiction books ("The Executioner's Song") -- not to mention a mythic machismo, an effort to become mayor of New York, several scandals, a few movies and the alternative weekly the Village Voice. A nonprofit organization honoring his memory, which had been located in his homes in both Brooklyn and Provincetown, Mass., will soon be based solely in New York, and the Cape Cod house is now up for sale for $3.9 million. Its real estate listing shows just what two Pulitzer Prizes, one National Book Award and 59 years of successful writing could buy.
