LOS ANGELES -- Prosecutors have filed charges against an armed man who attempted to break into Paris Hilton's home in Sherman Oaks.

Nathan Lee Parada, 31, was charged Thursday with a felony count of attempted residential burglary.

He is being held on $50,000 bail.

Parada was arrested at Hilton's home in the gated community of Mulholland Estates around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

After banging on the door, he was confronted by Hilton's boyfriend, who was inside the house, police said.

Hilton posted a photo on Twitter of officers at her home along with the following message: "So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes. Cops are here arresting him."

The photo showed a man in handcuffs surrounded by investigators.

Hilton told police the man was banging on the windows of the home and woke her up.

She spotted him on her in-home surveillance cameras and called for help.

She says the suspect never actually entered the residence.

It was not known how he got into the gated community or if was targeting Hilton's house.

Hilton's home has been burglarized in the past, including by the so-called 'Bling Ring' suspects that targeted celebrity homes in the Los Angeles area.

Her neighbor Charlie Sheen has also had two cars stolen from in front of his house.
