(Handout photo / September 19, 2013)
From: Columbia Valley, Wash.
Serve with: Grilled hamburgers, steak; pasta
This medium- to full-bodied red wine from Washington State punches above its price in terms of quality. It delivers intense, penetrating flavors of black cherry. It's not particularly complex but it's pure cabernet character with great appeal for drinking right now. It's one more example of the increasing quality of Washington cabernets as winemakers learn how to tame harsh tannins.
