The new owner of Jimmy’s Restaurant in Fells Point is hosting a grand reopening party Thursday to celebrate the restaurant’s next rendition.
In the seven months since Rustem “Rudy” Keskin bought Jimmy’s, he’s added a fresh facade to the restaurant on Broadway, touched up the interior and brought in new furniture and equipment, accompanied by an expanded menu and longer hours.
Keskin will showcase the new menu and the restaurant’s new look Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at a grand reopening party, which will feature live music, a ribbon-cutting and complimentary food, beer and wine tastings.
Keskin, who also owns Rudy’s Mediterranean Grill in Columbia, bought Jimmy’s from Nick Filipidis in December. The ownership change marked the first time the restaurant had been owned by anyone outside the Filipidis family since it opened in 1946.
Jimmy’s evolved over time from a convenience store to an all-day breakfast spot under the Filipidis family’s ownership. Now under Keskin, the eatery has added outdoor seating and expanded the menu to include some of the Turkish cuisine on the menu at his Columbia restaurant.
Jimmy’s is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
