Ekiben has the best sandwiches in Maryland, Travel & Leisure says

Maryland’s best sandwich, according to Travel & Leisure, won’t be found between slices of bread, but rather steamed buns.

The magazine and website recently published a list of where to find the best sandwich in every state, and Ekiben in Fells Point topped the list for Maryland.

The restaurant is known for its Asian fusion cuisine — especially its steamed bun sandwiches like The Original, featuring Thai chicken meatballs, and The Neighborhood Bird, with Taiwanese curry fried chicken.

Travel & Leisure compiled its list based on a Yelp algorithm that ranked restaurants in the “sandwich” category by number of reviews and star ratings.

Ekiben, located at 1622 Eastern Ave., is just the latest Baltimore restaurant to earn national attention. Recently, The Daily Meal named Tortilleria Sinaloa in Fells Point as the best Mexican restaurant in Maryland.
