100 best Baltimore-area restaurants 2011: Special occasions
This is a different kind of dining guide. This year, we've expanded the list of Baltimore's best restaurants and we've broken them down into categories like the best restaurants for doing business, for celebrating special occasions and for everyday dining. There is an additional list of 10 best restaurants as determined by Baltimore Sun readers and one final list of critic's overall favorites. --Richard Gorelick

Special occasions: Tio Pepe
The caves below Franklin Street still glow on Saturday nights with merry diners, drowsy on sangria, sated with shrimp and garlic sauce and tournedos of beef in sherry sauce, watching for the man in the red jacket to wheel over the brazos de gitano, otherwise known as the nut logs. Tio Pepe has been so for 40 years and will still be so for 40 more.--Richard Gorelick
Venue address: 10 E. Franklin St. |
