It's National VegWeek.
Organized by the Washington-based nonprofit advocacy group Compassion Over Killing, and now in its fifth year, National VegWeek encourages participants to explore vegetarian dining for one week.
A few Baltimore restaurants are participating in National VegWeek, which continues through Sunday.
Charmington's in Remington is offering a special Carolina Style BBQ Seitan Sandwich, served with vegan coleslaw and a Curried Chick'un Salad Wrap with walnuts, golden raisins, apples and celery. That's in addition to regular vegan options like a Sweet Potato Burger, Spicy Black Bean Burger and Black Bean Hummus Wrap.
Mention "VegWeek" at Two Boots in Mid-Town Belvedere and get 20 percent off vegan items.
The standard vegan pizzas at Two Boots, V for Vegan and Earth Mother, will be available by the slice every day during VegWeek. And on Wednesday, Two Boots will offer a special vegan version of its Tony Clifton pizza at its weekly Pizza and Beer night, with some proceeds going to Compassion Over Killing.
Van Gough Cafe in Upper Fells Point is offering a vegan cheese wrap with vegetables and mac and cheese special using their newly acquired soft cheddar cheese. Van Gough (which sits on the corner of Ann and Gough streets) is also Kosher, by the way.
