"Top Chef" host Tom Colicchio stopped by Heavy Seas Alehouse on Friday afternoon with his new fishing buddy, the actor Josh Charles.
The news of Colicchio's visit was circulated on social media by Heavy Seas executive chef Matt Seeber, who was the executive chef at Tom Colicchio's Craftsteak in Las Vegas before coming to Baltimore.
Colicchio and Charles came to Heavy Seas to continue filming an episode of "Hooked Up With Tom Colicchio," a YouTube series in which the chef goes on fishing expeditions with celebrities like Perry Farrell and Andy Cohen.
Colicchio describes “Hooked Up” as a talk show, but with fishing. He was quick to acknowledge that he didn't invent the format: “Fishing with John,” was a cult 1991 television series in which the actor John Lurie went fishing with celebrities like Dennis Hopper and Willem Dafoe.
Seeber served dinner to Colicchio and Charles, who were seated at one of the tall community tables in the front bar area. Once taping was over, they both took time to talk to the media and to fans.
Dinner looked to be going well, but the fishing was apparently a bust.
Colicchio and Charles were out fishing on the Susquehanna on Friday morning and afternoon. They were fishing for rockfish (or "stripers," as Colicchio calls them) but they came up empty-handed.
