Can't crimp? The pros at the Crisco Pie Hotline are back to serve up expert pie-baking advice, recipes and tips year round and for extended hours during the Thanksgiving season.
I like this one. The InSinkErator site has a good page on how to repair a broken garbarge disposal. You can also find tips ontthe InSinkErator Facebook page on how not to clog your garbage disposal up in the first place.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service maintains a Seasonal Food Safety page on its website with dozens of no-nonsense facts and tips about safe-turkey handling. You can even get turkey tips on Twitter @USDAFoodSafety. See, too, the Let's Talk Turkey, a consumer guide to roasting a turkey.
Also, check out FoodSafety.Gov, "your gateway to Federal Food Safety Information."
If you're still stumped about cooking your turkey, you can call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-MPHotline (1-888-674-6854) or chat live with a food safety specialist at AskKaren.gov until 4 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
The exhaustive Thanksgiving guide on Conde Nast's Epicurious site includes recipes, videos, Turkey 101 and interviews with big shots like Sam Sifton, the former New York Times restaurant critic who has just published a book of Thanksgiving advice, "Thanksgiving: How to Cook it Well."
The puckish Serious Eats site offers has gathered up practical advice and wisdom in its Serious Eats Guide to a Stress-Free Thanksgiving. Consider sending a nervous host a link to the planning page.
Although there is some content for beginners, the Thanksgiving content on Saveur is designed for more experienced cooks, especially those looking to freshen up their Thanksgiving table with new dishes.
The Kitchn is full of lucid advice about things like How to Cook a Turkey: The Simplest, Easiest Method and How to Make a Master Prep List for a Big Dinner Party.
