Cashell figures in the legend of Resurrection Ale, the wildly populuar flagship brand of Brewer's Art. It was Cashell who gave the Abbey-style dubbel its name, after he successfully "resurrected" the yeast that had died during the fermentation of the first batch.
Cashell will be the head brewer at the Gordon Biersch Baltimore location, according to a company spokeswoman. The Baltimore location of Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant is scheduled to open Oct. 22 on Lancaster Street in Harbor East. The 9,500 square-foot restaurant will seat 279 inside and an additional 50 on an outdoor patio.
The first Gordon Biersch opened in 1988 in Palo Alto, Calif. Acquired by the Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Big River Brewing Company in 1999, Gordon Biersch currently operates 33 restaurants, including locations in Annapolis and Rockville, in the United States, according to the company's corporate website.
