Update (March 13): Because of snow forecast to hit Maryland on Tuesday, &pizza has postponed its Pi Day weddings until Wednesday. The story has been updated to reflect the change.
If you're in love with your significant other — and head over heels for pizza — a Baltimore pizzeria wants to host your wedding next week.
The Federal Hill shop &pizza will transform into a Las Vegas-style chapel on March 15. The eatery will host complimentary weddings throughout the day, complete with music, flowers, a photographer, officiant and, of course, pizza. The wedding extravaganza was originally scheduled to occur March 14, or Pi Day, but was postponed due to weather.
Couples could apply online to be considered for a wedding ceremony. Limited walk-in weddings will also be available.
It's a tradition &pizza has been hosting since 2015, when a couple got married beneath one of &pizza's ampersands. This is the first year &pizza has held Pi Day weddings in Baltimore.
(For those who don't remember their geometry lessons, pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, a mathematical constant rounded to 3.14 — hence, March 14.)
&pizza opened in Federal Hill last year, and Pi Day weddings aren't the first stunt it has hosted. On its opening day in May, the shop offered free pizza for a year to the first five customers willing to get a tattoo of its ampersand. The shop found five takers and had to turn away others.
&pizza was founded in 2012 and has 20 locations in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia.
