Piv's Pub and Patrick's closed, at least temporarily

Two Cockeysville mainstays, Piv's and Patrick's, are closed, at least temporarily, and their future is uncertain.

The outgoing message on Piv's phone says, "We are closed for the month of August. We'll look forward to serving you and seeing bigger and better things in the future. Again we are closed for the month of August. We will see you soon. Thank you for your loyal patronage."

Update (Aug. 20, 5:55 p.m.) The outgoing message on Piv's phone now says, "You have reached Piv’s Pub and Restaurant. We are now closed. We would like to thank each and every customer for all the support over the years. We will never forget you and we hope to see you in our future. Have a great future."

Owned by members of the Pivec family, Piv's Pub was formerly known as Courtney's and started out in the Timonium location where Christopher Daniel is now before moving to Cockeysville.

Meanwhile, Patrick's in Cranbrook Shopping Center has been closed since at least early July. A message on the restaurant's website says, "We are closed for remodeling."

Reached by email, the restaurant's co-owner Carole Brosso said, "Please ask our patrons to be patient and know we will be back."

Patrick's was purchased in 2006 by Carole Brosso and Mary Lou Brosso, her mother, who had developed a following at the old Buddie's Pub & Jazz Club downtown. Before that, Patrick's had been operated, starting in 1995, by Bill Graul, who brought on Tio Pepe veteran Tomas Sanz as executive chef.

When they bought Patrick’s, the Brossos kept some of Sanz's specialties, like the shrimp in garlic sauce and the pine nut roll.

We will keep you posted on the progress of Piv's and Patrick's.
