There'll be some good eating in Annapolis tonight. Gov. Martin O'Malley is hosting the 7th annual Buy Local Cookout at Government House.

The capstone for Maryland’s Buy Local Challenge Week, the invitation-only event features food made from recipes submitted by teams of Maryland chefs and producers.

Two Baltimore-area chefs are among those whose recipes are being featured tonight, including John Shields of Gertrude's, for his Schillinger Farm Sugar Baby Gazpacho with J.M. Clayton's Lump Crab, and Bryan Davis of the Classic Catering People, for his Goat Cheese and Silver Queen Corn Cake with Smoky Tomato Ginger Jam.

The 16 selected recipes were chosen for their availability of ingredients, geographic representation and maximum use of local ingredients and creativity.

All of the submitted recipes - there were 28 in all - are collected in the a cookbook, "2014 Buy Local Maryland Cookout Recipes," which is available now on Maryland's Buy Local Challenge website.

Created in 2007 by created by the Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission, and now a statewide program, the Buy Local Challenge encourages all Marylanders to eat at least one locally grown or raised product each day of the Buy Local Challenge Week, always the last full week of July.
