Nelson Carey, Grand Cru owner, dies

Nelson Carey, the popular owner of the Grand Cru wine bar at Belvedere Square, has died.

Carey died early this morning at Greater Baltimore Medical Center, according to Barbara Carr, his sister-in-law.

The cause of death was an apparent heart attack, Carr told The Baltimore Sun.

Carey is survived by a wife and a daughter. A native of Baltimore, Carey lived in Timonium. He was 50 years old.

Plans for a memorial service are incomplete.
