This could be the big summer of cider. We've fallen hard for the crisp dry hard ciders coming out of Millstone Cellars in Monkton, which are so refreshing for hot-weather dining.
The Maryland Wineries will host Locapour - Drink Local, a tasting event at the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park on July 11 featuring five Maryland cider and mead producers. The event will include food vendors, live music and family activities.
The participating wine producers are Great Shoals Winery (Princess Anne), Millstone Cellars (Monkton), Distillery Lane Ciderworks (Jefferson), Linganore Winecellars (Mount Airy) and Orchid Cellar Winery (Middletown).
Locapour - Drink Local is 4 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park, 1114 Shawan Road, Cockeysville. Tasting passes are $20 in advance and $25 at the entrance. Non-tasting passes are $10. Cider and mead will be available for purchase by the glass, bottle and case.
And this, I love: A complimentary shuttle will run between the Hunt Valley Light Rail stop and the event site.
