An Italian restaurant named Marchionda's has opened in the Harford Road location that was for so many years Angelina's, a popular destination for Italian food and especially crab cakes.

The owners are the family team of Frances and Tonney Crews and their daughter Joann Stoffel - Marchionda was Tonney Crews’ mother's maiden name. First-time restaurateurs, they opened Marchionda's quietly in late July.

On Marchionda's dinner menu are appetizers like fried calamari, arancini and Marchionda's meatballs and entrees like veal saltimbocca, chicken Milanese and braised osso buco. The restaurant's chef is Frank White, formerly the executive chef at Rolling Road Country Club, and its sous chef is Jamie Buschman.

The pasta and sauces, and even the ricotta cheese are made on premises, according to manager Jennifer Quinton, who said that the restaurant is striving to prepare fresh dishes and not rely on pre-packaged, pre-portioned food-service products. Quinton said that the chefs, White and Buschman were instrumental in developing and executing the owners' vision of an authentic Italian restaurant.

The renovated spaces seat approximately 140 people, with the main seating area on the first floor and room for private parties and overflow seating on the second. The bar area remains in the basement.

Marchionda's is at 7135 Harford Road. For information, call 410-444-5545 or go to www.marchiondas.com. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner.
