Why is Joe Squared?

The way owner Joe Edwardsen tells it, it was a case of form not exactly following function. The "squared" in the restaurant's name didn't originally refer to the shape of now famous square pizzas, which were recently featured on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." There were originally two "Joes" -- Joe Edwardsen and another Joe, who left the partnership "after about five days," after the original North Avenue restaurant opened, Edwardsen says. Stuck with the name, Edwardsen figured something at Joe Squared had to be squared, and if it wasn't "Joe," it might as well be the pizzas.
