Owner of Turkish restaurant is taking over Jimmy's Restaurant in Fells Point

The owner of a Turkish restaurant in Columbia is taking over Jimmy's Restaurant in Fells Point.

The owner of a Turkish restaurant in Columbia says he is taking over the space where Fells Point stronghold Jimmy's Restaurant has stood for 70 years.

Rustem "Rudy" Keskin, who owns Rudy's Mediterranean Grill in Columbia, confirmed he's opening a second restaurant at the space at 801 S. Broadway.

Jimmy's is known for its all-day breakfast, but it's unclear whether those offerings will remain under the new ownership.

The change in ownership marks a changing of the guard in Fells Point. Jimmy's opened in 1946 and has long been a gathering place for politicians, celebrities and locals alike.

Rudy's first location in Columbia opened in 2012 at 7185 Columbia Gateway Drive serving traditional Turkish fare alongside American diner classics. The Columbia restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Jimmy's owner Nick Filipidis, whose family has owned the restaurant since it opened, declined to comment on the sale of the restaurant.
