For the Hampden cowgirl: Golden West Cafe
There's are a handful of very good reasons why Golden West has advanced to the top of Baltimore's brunch class -- the huevos rancheros, the breakfast burrito, the Elvis pancakes (yes, with bananas and peanut butter) the cinnamon French toast (shown here) and, our favorite, the breakfast polenta. It all goes down well in Golden West's cheerful western digs, especially back at the Long Bar, where you're less likely to have a little dogie under your feet. The bonus: Golden West serves breakfast on Saturday, too. (Baltimore Sun photo/Kim Hairston /March 10, 2011)

Open Table is out with the 2012 Diners' Choice Award winners for Best 100 Restaurants for Brunch in the United States. Gertrude's, the restaurant at the Baltimore Museum of Art, is on it.
Also, on the list, close to home, are Mrs. K's Toll House in Silver Spring and Peacock Cafe, Belga Cafe, The Front Page, Ted's Bulletin, L'Enfant Cafe and Bar, Level One and Madhatter, all in D.C.
Gertrude's really is a sweet brunch spot. The flagstone patio at Gertrude's is set in the museum's Wurtzburger Sculpture Garden, with views into the winding paths of the Levi Sculpture Garden below.
These days, Gertrude's is doing the jazz brunch thing on Sunday. Brunch is served from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m and Dottie & Al play standards from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Gertrude's has also started serving afternoon tea on the first weekend of the month. Seating times are Thursday through Sunday, 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
