Baltimore Farmers' Market: Week Five report

The Baltimore Sun

Week Five was at the Baltimore Farmers' Market was a whole lot like Week Four but sunnier and warmer. Spinach, asparagus and strawberries were the headline attractions again, but there was more of them, and farmers said there will be even more next week.

There was one big seasonal debut on April 29. Soft-shell crabs were available for the first time this year the the Baltimore Farmers' Market from A & R Seafood, $11 for two whales, $7 for two primes. Whales are 6inches and bigger, primes are between 5 and 5 1/2 inches.

A & R Seafood shares a table with Salt River Lobster, the guys with the weekly trivia question. This week's question asked "Who dresses like Tarzan, has hair like Jane and smells like Cheetah?" Or, rather, who is that quote attributed to, and to whom was the speaker referring. It's easywhen you Google it, but no Googling is allowed. I've never known the answer.

Bonus points from me to Pahl's Farm for promoting their Non-Stop Begonias (Begonia X tuberhybrida) with a clipping from the Christine McComas' Plant of the Week feature in the Baltimore Sun.
