Baby's on Fire, cafe and record shop, opens this week in Mount Vernon

A new cafe and record store is opening in Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon will soon have a new hangout for music lovers and coffee aficionados alike.

David and Shirlé Koslowski are opening Baby's on Fire, a cafe and record store at 1010 Morton St. The shop is slated to open its doors June 10, with a grand opening planned for June 18.

Baby's on Fire, which takes its name from one of the Koslowskis' favorite songs, will serve coffee from Portland, Ore.-based Stumptown Coffee Roasters with breakfast and lunch offerings by Shirlé Koslowski. She also owns the personal chef service Four Corners Cuisine, which she will continue to operate from the kitchen of Baby's on Fire.

The BYOB is housed in a historic carriage house, where the owners will sell new, used and collectible vinyls alongside food and drinks.

Baby's on Fire will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.

In addition to regular hours, the couple is also planning to host music-themed events including record release parties, documentary screenings, musician talks and DJ nights.
