Manager Davey Johnson got a little cute in Game 4 of the AL Division Series against the Seattle Mariners and their formidable ace, Randy Johnson — and it worked. Instead of starting All-Stars Roberto Alomar and Rafael Palmeiro against baseball's best lefty, he inserted reserves Jeff Reboulet and Jerome Walton. It paid off in the first inning when Reboulet, the Orioles' No. 2 hitter, homered to left for a 1-0 lead. It was Reboulet's only hit of that series. The Orioles eventually won the game, 3-1, the lone time they have clinched a postseason series at Camden Yards. Johnson struck out 13 but gave up three runs and was out-dueled by Mussina.
