Traffic patterns altered for Preakness

Some streets closed through Saturday

Traffic patterns on several streets near Pimlico Race Course will be altered starting today for the 133rd running of the Preakness on Saturday. Some roads will be closed through Saturday night.

The Baltimore Department of Transportation is urging people attending the event to carpool or use public transportation. Parking restrictions in neighborhoods around the Northwest Baltimore track will be strictly enforced.

Vehicles towed will be taken to Cylburn Avenue, just south of Northern Parkway. Owners can call to learn the exact location of their car. There will be no towing fee, but owners will be responsible for citations.

Traffic patterns will be altered on the following streets from 10 p.m. today through 8 p.m. Saturday:

Rogers Avenue: one-way westbound from Winner Avenue to Park Heights Avenue.

Winner Avenue: one-way northbound from Hayward Avenue to Northern Parkway.

Manhattan Avenue: one-way eastbound from Winner Avenue to Pimlico Road.

Whitney Avenue: one-way westbound from Pimlico Road to Key Avenue.

Sulgrave Avenue: one-way westbound from Stuart Avenue to Highgate Drive.

Rockwood Avenue: one-way eastbound from Key Avenue to Berkeley Avenue.

Simmonds Avenue: one-way southbound from Rockwood Avenue to Manhattan Avenue.

Woodcrest Avenue: one-way northbound from Northern Parkway to Rockwood Avenue.

Merville Avenue: one-way southbound from Glen Avenue to Northern Parkway.

Berkeley Avenue: one-way northbound from Whitney Avenue to Glen Avenue.

Stuart Avenue: one way northbound from Northern Parkway to Sulgrave Avenue.

Rusk Avenue: one-way southbound from Whitney Avenue to Northern Parkway.

The following streets will be closed:

Today from 10 a.m. to Saturday at 9 p.m.: Rogers Avenue from Winner Avenue to Northern Parkway.

Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Cylburn Avenue from Northern Parkway to Greenspring Avenue.

Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.: southbound Jones Falls Expressway exit ramp to westbound Northern Parkway and westbound Northern Parkway from Falls Road to Greenspring Avenue.

On Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Hayward Avenue will be one-way eastbound from Park Heights Avenue to Winner Avenue and from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Pimlico Road will be one-way northbound from Northern Parkway to Cross Country Boulevard.
