Old Man Brown

Hometown: Baltimore

Current members: Adam Scott-Wakefield, keyboards and vocals; Marshall Chapman, guitar; Paul Lewis, bass; Alex Rankin, guitar; Christian Stengle, drums

Founded in: 2001

Style: Southern rock, blues and soul

Influenced by: Allman Brothers, Earth Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, the Band

Notable: Though the band members are originally from New Hampshire and they recorded the debut album, Return, in Nashville, Chapman said Baltimore is a good home base for blues inspiration. Johnny Neel, who has played keyboards with the Allman Brothers, produced and played on Return, which comes out in December.

Quotable: "I think from [a] blues perspective, anyway, Baltimore is a great city," Chapman said. "It's historically been a blue-collar city, and the people are very down-to-earth and like to have a good time, and that's pretty much what we're all about."
