Flowers and art
Local DJ Jerry Thrasher provides the music while you peruse the floral and fine-art items for sale at the Sykesville Flower and Artisans Festival on Saturday. Many local flower vendors and artists will fill Main Street for the event, which includes children's activities such as face painting and balloon art. All shops along the street will stay open during the event.
On the waterfront
Middle River's Wilson Point Park hosts a wide variety of family activities, including water-taxi tours, arts and crafts shows and live music, for the fourth annual Baltimore County Waterfront Festival on Saturday. Through the event, the local government celebrates and directs attention toward the county's 175 miles of waterfront. The program also includes nature and environmental displays, local food vendors, water rescue demonstrations and more.
Amos and Amos
Mike and Brooke Amos, the local father-daughter duo that goes by Amos and Amos, perform an eclectic range of Christian-themed music. They mix jazz, country, rock, folk, bluegrass and gospel. The songs of Amos and Amos, inspired by personal tragedies and triumphs, aim to spread positive messages of faith, love, hope and justice. The group shares its music Saturday at Perry Hall United Methodist Church's open-mike Folk Music Night.
A day with the Philharmonic
On Sunday, Ronald J. Gretz directs the Maryland Philharmonic Orchestra for an afternoon concert at Goucher College's Kraushaar Auditorium. The program features Richard Wagner's Prelude to Lohengrin Act III, Giuseppe Verdi's Sempre libera from La Traviata, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor and more.
