Glimpsed

Misty Doonis

Glimpsed: Towson

A simple outfit can be deceptive. Take Misty Doonis' easy daytime look of jeans, a strapless top and flats. Taken alone, each piece is simple, but together the look is va-va-voom.

What makes this summer ensemble special? First, Misty chose a top with great colors - a deep, exotic blend of hues that complements her tan. Her dark jeans are trouser-style, a silhouette that always reads just a little bit dressy. And finally, Misty chose to spice up this outfit with a beautiful set of big beads - drawing the eye up to the Towson resident's best feature. Her smile.

Misty Doonis

Age: 30

Residence: Towson

Job: Owner of a recruiting company

Self-described style: "I think my style is pretty casual but fun."

The look: Multi-colored strapless BCBG top. Dark-wash trouser-style Hudson jeans. Flats. Beaded necklace.

Where it came from: Shirt and jeans from InStyle boutique in New York. Shoes from Nordstrom. Necklace from Banana Republic.

Jean-ius: "I love jeans, I have at least 20 pairs. My favorite designers are Citizens of Humanity, Rock and Republic and Habitual. I like jeans because you can dress them up or go casual with a tank top and flip flops."

Mix 'n match: "I like to shop at Nordstrom, South Moon Under and Instyle Boutique in New York, but I have to admit I also like Old Navy and Target. I think it is good to mix and match designer clothes with trendy seasonal items."

Beading up: "I love chunky jewelry and I think it looks nice in the summer when you have a suntan. I normally don't wear too much jewelry but sometimes it's fun to dress up an outfit with neat earrings, a bracelet or a necklace. I don't think you should ever overdo it and wear all three if they are bold and chunky. One dramatic piece of jewelry is all an outfit needs - otherwise it becomes a little overwhelming."

Don't shoot for the stars: "I think that fashion is an expression of your personality and you should follow your own personal style and not try to dress like the stars - they have unlimited bank accounts and stylists, so of course they're going to look great. Today's fashion has many different styles and that is great because it allows people to be individuals."
