Daniel Wilcox, Baltimore Ravens
Five Things I Have To Have Now
Daniel Wilcox grew up in Atlanta and he knows the streets can be tough for young black men. That's why the 30-year-old Ravens tight end was happy to take over a free football clinic, initially started by former Raven Darnell Dinkins. "When he left to go to Cleveland, he called to ask me to take over the camp for him so the thing can keep going for the kids," says Wilcox. "It's really beneficial to the young kids to see [that] we are the same kind of guys they are. ... We grew up in the same kind of neighborhoods. ... We get a chance to tell them not to give up." The one-day camp, set for Friday at M&T Bank Stadium, also offers information on scholarships and an SAT prep course. "We tell them that school is really important," says Wilcox, the father of a 2-year-old son. "School is going to put you in the mindset where you can do whatever it is you want to do." 1. New house for my Mom: "Right now she has a house in Atlanta, but we kind of share it. I live on the top floor. I want her to have her own space - on one level [because of] her knees. She's the center of the family and keeps everyone together. So she needs her own place."
2. New house for me: "I kind of need my own space too. Hopefully right by my mom's or no more than 3 or 4 houses down."
3. Engagement ring: "For a very wonderful woman ... but I'll keep [her name] to myself."
4. A yacht: "I like the water and ... you have peace and quiet on the ocean. It would be a good experience."
5. Mercedes Benz S-600: "Ever since I was 12 years old, I've wanted a 600 Benz. The new S-class is right up my alley. ... It's very, very classy, but muscular, manly and extremely fast."
