Dolores Deluxe
Want to know what makes Baltimore Baltimore? Look no further than Dolores Deluxe. This ageless beauty has been a fashion designer, a film art director on some of John Waters' earlier movies, a vintage-clothing store owner and floral designer. She now describes herself as "Vince Peranio's lifestyle coordinator and clutter-buster." The Upper Fells Point home she shares with husband and film production designer Peranio, several cats and their beloved pooch, Bellissima, has been the subject of several interior-design articles.
LaRian Finney
LaRian Finney, 42, is founder, CEO and president of Visionary Marketing Group, a marketing and event planning firm in Baltimore. He lives in Reservoir Hill with wife Kia Finney, a federal attorney, and their daughter, Rachael, 14, and son Rian, 5.
Deborah Stallings
Deborah Stallings, 48, is the founder and CEO of HR Anew, a human resources management consulting and professional services firm. She started the company as its only employee out of a small Columbia apartment almost 10 years ago. It now has 28 employees and about 20 independent contractors. Stallings lives in Columbia with husband Douglas M. Corner, who works in CarMax sales. She has a 28-year old daughter, Kena Hodges, and a 3-year-old grandson, Kristian.
Jennifer Mead-Brause
Jennifer Mead-Brause, 34, has been the executive director of Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter since its inception two years ago, as a nonprofit arm of the Baltimore City Animal Control shelter. A Carroll County native, Mead-Brause worked previously as a senior marine mammal trainer at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. She lives in Timonium with husband, Ed Brause, and their two dogs and two cats.
Lenny Kaplan
Though it's been six years since Lenny Kaplan, 71, left the restaurant business, he's still one of Baltimore's best-known restaurateurs. Among the businesses that he and his wife, Gail Kaplan, have owned and run: Pimlico Restaurant, Classic Catering, Lenny's Chop House and the Polo Grill. The Kaplans live in Baltimore and have three adult children and six grandchildren.
Mary Anne Perry
Even if you don't recognize the name of Mary Anne Perry, you probably know her voice. Perry, 44, is one of the Baltimore area's most prolific voice-over artists, or "voice movie star," as a friend of her 7-year-old son Jack has described her. She is the voice of WJZ-TV, and Gainesville, Fla., radio station WKTK. She voices many regional and national commercials, including those for Valley View Farms and Toyota. From 1992 to 2004, Perry was the midday on-air personality on WLIF-FM. She lives in Roland Park with husband Greg Zenger, a stay-at-home dad, and their son Jack.
