Five Things I Have To Have Now

Sandra Magsamen is an artist, mom and the creator of the Messages From The Heart brand of gifts and decorations. For over 20 years she has taught others how to live with heart, and she is the author of Living Artfully, which shares how to use creativity, imagination, and play to better express ourselves, create meaningful moments, and connect more closely with the people we love. Her work will be on display this month at La Terra Gallery, 4001 Falls Road. She lives in Glen Arm with husband, Mark Barry, who is also an artist, and their 19-year-old daughter, Hannah.

1. Land

"Give me land lots of land, lots of beautiful land. I would love to own a working organic farm with chickens, an orchard, a vegetable garden and sheep so I can make delicious and healthy meals and host dinner parties outside under the stars as the sheep graze. I would place it in conservancy so the land would remain undeveloped and beautiful for our children and their children's children."

2. Six months in Italy

"I want to learn to cook and bake Italian foods so I know how to make delicious foods with the produce from my organic farm."

3. $25 million to endow the American Visionary Art Museum

"I love this museum and believe it celebrates life and the human spirit like no other place on the planet."

4. A fully restored 1958 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

"That way my daughter and I can take long rides in the country and talk or not talk at all and just be together."

5. A personal trainer who speaks Italian

"That way I can learn to speak Italian [for my trip] and stay fit as I eat all the fabulous foods I will learn to make in Italy when I return to my organic farm."
