Mila Kunis discusses moving to Chicago

When a celebrity tells a Chicago media outlet they love Chicago, it can sound like insincere pandering. But when a celebrity tells a national media outlet they love Chicago and have discussed moving here? That’s a different story.

During an interview with Vanity Fair, “Black Swan” and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” actress Mila Kunis, who lives in Los Angeles, was asked if she would consider moving.

“Lot of discussion over this,” Kunis said. “Would I ever move? I just finished shooting in Chicago. If you take the winter away from Chicago, I would move there. I loved it.”

Kunis filmed “Jupiter Ascending” in the city over the summer and has been spotted at Bears games with her boyfriend and Bears fan Ashton Kutcher since last season. Her relationship with the high-profile Iowa native has made them a big target of paparazzi, but apparently less so in Chicago.

“In all honesty, there are no paparazzi there. But you get the city, you get New York with the Midwestern vibe. So you have the downtown aspect of Manhattan, but with the city people being very welcoming and warm -- very Midwestern, blue collar folk. And no paparazzi. They just don’t exist. They’re just not there. You get one in a blue moon ... but that’s it.”

Kunis visited Sunda, Japonais, RPM Italian, Three Dots and a Dash, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba and Hugo’s Frog Bar & Fish House, among other places, while filming here. She also made time to go shopping with Kutcher at the Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora.

“The food is great,” Kunis said of Chicago. “Amazing food, amazing music scene. The winters are the only thing. And they have the Chicago Bears. Bear down. I love the Bears.”

It's one thing to discuss moving to Chicago and another thing to actually do it. And judging by her dislike for the cold, it seems unlikely that Kunis will call Chicago home any time soon. Still, it's nice to hear one of Hollywood's most likable actresses say what we've known all along.
