'The Pianist of Willesden Lane'( May 1, 2013 )
Mona Golabek¿s classy, deeply stirring new one-woman show is thematically similar to the movie "The Pianist," in that it follows the life of a Jewish musician who played on through turmoil, adversity and dislocation. Golabek is telling the story of her own mother, Lisa Jura, the child of parents who perished themselves at the hands of the Nazis. It's all performed live and in person by Golabek, as formidable a pianist as she is a storyteller.
Through May 12 in the Royal George Theatre Center, 1641 N. Halsted St.; $44-$49 at 312-988-9000 and theroyalgeorgetheatre.com
