'The Iron Lady' (Jan. 13)

Meryl Streep has already been pre-Oscar-nominated by the Ladies and Lords of the Acting Universe for her portrayal of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The movie's not quite what you'd expect; like Oliver Stone's "W," it's an intriguingly empathetic depiction of a despised (by some) politician. Phyllida Lloyd, Streep's collaborator on the screen version of "Mamma Mia!," directs.
