'The Way' -- 2 stars

PG-13; 1:55 running time Sweet but pat -- or, if you're more in the mood for it, pat but sweet -- "The Way" follows a clearly plotted path through France and Spain along the Camino de Santiago, the 500-mile trail favored for centuries by hikers, adventurers, spiritual seekers and pilgrims searching for a through-line, however temporary, in a world defying linearity. This is a father/son project, written and directed by Emilio Estevez, who also plays a supporting role, and starring Martin Sheen, Estevez's father. (Charlie Sheen, Estevez's brother, is nowhere in sight, though there are times the film could use a shot of tiger blood.) -- Michael PhillipsRead the full "The Way" review
