It has been a very long week for "The Voice." The competition's Top 16 performers battled it out in the live playoff rounds.
On Night 3, each contestant would learn their fate (and Rod Stewart would do a comeback performance I’m sure no one saw coming). After counting all of the votes, minus the text and Internet-submitted ballots (I’m sorry, Jason George, I could imagine the pain that comes with recounting votes, good thing "The Voice" had the only competitive reality results show on Wednesday), it was time for the live eliminations, after a performance from former coach Cee-Lo Green.
Now it’s time to get down to business. Remember: America saved two contestants from each team and the coaches can only save one.
After a night of strong country performances, Justin Rivers, Holly Tucker, Danielle Bradbery and the Swan Brothers were Blake’s four remaining contestants.
America saved: Holly Tucker and Danielle Bradbery
Blake saved: The Swan Brothers
Justin went home after receiving a hug and a message from Blake to “call him.” This probably won’t be the last we hear from the country crooner.
After a group performance, and a night of ups and downs for her team, it was time for someone to go home.
America saved: Sasha Allen and Kris Thomas
Shakira saved: (After minutes of suspense, because she really wanted the person going home to know how bad she didn’t want to do this.) Garret Gardner, sending Karina Iglesias back to the music room.
Raising the bar for the live playoffs, Team Usher stood strong and confident as they learned its fate.
America saved: Michelle Chamuel and Vedo
Usher saved: Josiah Hawley
Sorry, Cathia from the block, your time ends here.
With only two minutes to spare until the end of the show, Adam’s Angels learned who would move on to the Top 12.
America saved: Judith Hill and Amber Carrington
Adam saved: Sarah Simmons, ending singer/songwriter Caroline Glaser’s run.
Next week, "The Voice" returns with the Top 12 performing. The competition becomes real, as it becomes every man/woman for themself. Did your favorite make it this week?Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
