This recap of "The Voice" is brought to you by several pots of coffee and the frantic distractions of Election Eve in the newsroom. Bear with me, and this all-too-brief blog post.

The deal: The six members of Team Christina and Team Blake all performed live last night — 12 performances total — and America had a 12-hour window in which to vote for their favorite contestants. The audience votes save three members on each team but — SURPRISE TWIST! — the coaches can save one contestant who placed in the bottom three, meaning four members from each team progress to the quarterfinals. Now, how can the lowest vote-getters convince their coaches to keep them in the competition? Oh, by singing even more, of course.

But first, a performance from Gym Class Heroes! Even the remaining soul of my emo-punk-17-year-old-self couldn’t bring myself to care about this, so let’s forget it happened for the sake of time.

And some more previously taped segments! Blake takes his team with him to appear on a country radio station, his contestants sing — ha! Pun! — his praises, etc., etc.

Top Three Team Blake-ers Saved by Voters: Erin Willett, Jermaine Paul, RaeLynn

Meaning Charlotte Sometimes, Naia Kete and Jordis Unga all have to sing for their supper. Coming back to that in a bit.

And some more previously taped segments! Christina takes her team to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (I believe this episode aired a couple Fridays ago. I didn’t watch.), she sings the praises of her team members, etc., etc.

Top Three Team Christina-ers Saved by Voters: Jesse Campbell, Lindsey Pavao, Chris Mann

Meaning Moses Stone, Sera Hill and Ashley De La Rosa have to duke it out for Christina’s save.

Now, for the do-or-die performances.

For Team Blake, Naia Kete took on Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy,” Charlotte Sometimes sang the Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” and Jordis Unga was the only worth-saving performance with the Rolling Stones’s “Wild Horses.” All sang in earnest, and there were some tears (I have no patience for tears on election night!).

Blake’s Save: Jordis Unga

On Team Christina, Ashley De La Rosa sang Grace Potter’s “(Paris) Ooh-La-La,” (Which was AWESOME), Sera Hill sang Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love,” and Moses Stone sang The Script’s “Break Even” — without rapping once.

Christina’s Save: Ashley De La Rosa

Most Important Observation of the Evening: Thank God Cee Lo is bald again.
