'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' recap

As a housewife and mother of three young children ages 6, 7, and 8 living in the suburbs of Baltimore, I find myself intoxicated by the Bravo reality television series "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." I think this group -- more than any other Housewives grouping (Atlanta, New York, New Jersey or Orange County) -- symbolizes what is possible when you have millions in the bank … yet these women seem to face the same dysfunction that I experience on a daily basis, only in a fancier home with a lot more shoes.

Tonight, the girls hopped on a plane to Colorado to visit Camille, whose recent divorce is forcing her to sell one of her many homes. But before the journey begins, we get to see A-list housewife, my favorite, Lisa Vanderpump, packing her clothes from her palatial closet and French-kissing her beloved dog Jiggy goodbye. Her neighbor Adrienne has one last good argument with husband Paul before slipping on a hot pair of leather knee-high boots and gettin’ in the limo to the airport.

This episode was jam-packed with decadence and drama: Lisa has to cover her precious eyes to avoid bearing witness to Kim’s raunchy sense of humor (which included punching a strange man’s butt on the plane); a four-hour-long limo ride to Camille’s home featured Kim’s incessant babbling. Kim is utterly manic this season, as evidenced by her nonstop circular conversations. Meanwhile, Kim and Kyle show some sisterly love even though the previews for future episodes promise a storm brewing between the two.

My favorite term of the evening: “Mr. Vanderfabulous!” That’s right, yet another distinction that the effervescent Mrs. Lisa has graciously earned this season. She is undoubtedly the star of this show. Every housewife in every crevice of the earth would dream of being her, if only for a minute or two … even I do on a bad day. With classic Ava Gardner beauty and a regal Princess Diana gait, she is the inspiration that sucks me into this show. It's not the bickering Adrienne and Paul that gives me heartburn (no matter how fabulous Adrienne’s hair is) or the Kyle/Kim saga that reeks of toxicity. It's the one and only Mr. Vanderfabulous.
