University of Maryland, College Park's Gymkana group performed on last night's "America's Got Talent" Top 10 show. The gymnastic stunt group had upped the ante, adding a ring of fire that performers were jumping through, when one of them made contact with the ring and briefly caught fire, bringing the performance to an end. (The show was airing live.)
The gymnast was fine, and faced the judges with the rest of the team, but it was definitely a scary moment.
JudgePiers Morgan had buzzed the group before the fire incident, later saying it was because it felt repetitive, even though they are very good at what they do.
Tonight, the group will find out whether they are among the five acts making it to the next round. Will the interrupted performance work against them, or will voters want to give them a second chance after the incident? Time will tell. The "AGT" results show airs at 9 tonight on NBC.
