RedEye's 2012 Summer Movie Preview
Ladies and gentlemen, your top 5 candidates for the most-discussed movie of the summer:
"The Dark Knight Rises," which could be seen as a giant disappointment if it's not ridiculously awesome. (It will be.)
"Magic Mike," also known as "That movie about Channing Tatum's days as a stripper."
"Ted," the cinematic debut for "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, in which a teddy bear comes to life with an off-color personality that gets in the way of Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis' relationship. Oscar material? No. Likely to inspire arguments? Yes. "Prometheus," which may or may not have anything to do with Ridley Scott's "Alien" but does feature a killer cast and a great-looking trailer.
And "The Avengers," which kicks off an exciting season May 4 with about 5,000 superheroes at once.
With runners-up like the latest from Wes Anderson, a new "Bourne" movie and a "Spider-Man" reboot, the summer looks booming. Which flicks are we actually excited about? Read on. -- Matt Pais
