2013 winter/spring movie preview
As a new year of movies kicks off, it's nice to feel like we're not just seeing another round of the same old thing.

Jan. 11: 'Gangster Squad'
L.A. cops (including Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin) try to take down gangster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn), assuming Jerry (Gosling) doesn't get himself killed thanks to his relationship with Mickey's gal, Grace (Gosling's "Crazy Stupid Love" co-star Emma Stone).
What's new: Director Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland," "30 Minutes or Less") takes on material that's not a joke. At least, it's not supposed to look like a joke. What's not: Have you seen "L.A. Confidential"? |
