The Manny Machado experiment is working

( Lloyd Fox, The Baltimore Sun / September 13, 2012 ) It was a risk for the Orioles to call up their top position player prospect after only 402 at bats at Double-A Bowie, but the 20-year-old has shown flashes of his spectacular talent. More importantly, Machado has provided some defensive stability at third base, making the routine plays less of an adventure than they were when Mark Reynolds and Wilson Betemit manned the hot corner. If Machado can hold his own at the plate, his future -- and that of the team's -- is bright. |
