7 reasons to watch the Orioles, not preseason football
Back in May, amidst one of the hottest starts to the local baseball season in recent memory, we offered you 20 reasons to fall (back) in love with the Orioles.
There were times afterward when it felt like the team would make us fall out of love all over again. But, here we are, and the Birds are still in the thick of the playoff race. In seasons past, July and August were the nadir, the point when the Orioles were so far out of contention that Baltimoreans could be forgiven for not giving their full attention to hapless baseball. We certainly love the Ravens and can't wait for the regular season to start. But before it does, let's not lose sight of the Baltimore Orioles, who are poised to break a string of 14 straight losing seasons and possibly land a playoff berth. |

I'm a New Yorker and a Yankees fan since 1960. I also lived in Baltimore and visited Memorial Stadium during the seventies whenever the Yankees came to town. Though I have been back in New York for over thirty years now where the number one team is, I have also become a fan of the Orioles ( and the Ravens as well ) and have followed the team's progress ( or lack thereof ) for many years. I want them to win. I would love for Baltimore to win a championship. This weekend, The O's will visit Yankee Stadium and I will be having a cold one and will be rooting for them.
