Honorable mention: Natty Boh( Barbara Haddock Taylor, Baltimore Sun / March 27, 2014 )
Whether we like to acknowledge it or not, National Bohemian is no longer brewed in Maryland, thus disqualifying it from our list of top local beers. But to ignore our beloved, "unofficial" official beer and its mustachioed mascot would seem criminal, and at the very least, dishonest. So here's the truth: Natty Boh is, and will always be, Baltimore's beer.
But it's more than that. The winking, curly-haired Boh is our city's icon, an image that transcends beer and brand to something more unifying and inclusive. (Just ask the growing number of Baltimoreans with Boh-related tattoos.)
Boh represents classic Baltimore attitudes: blue-collar, affordable, dependable and no-nonsense. It's a simple beer, but no matter the situation, it always tastes great. Beer snobs and novices in Maryland can agree on one thing: Never trust a bar that doesn't serve Boh.
