No. 10: Heavy Seas and Devil's Backbone Land Ho!( Handout / March 27, 2014 )
$3.99/bomber, 5.25 percent ABV
Don't be scared by the black pilsner description -- this is refreshing with just the right amount of bitterness. One of the newest offerings from Heavy Seas (it became available in May), Land Ho! manages the delicate balance of a roasted taste that doesn't overwhelm (the caramel is just light enough). Roseland, Va.-based Devils Backbone gave an assist here, but we're claiming this one as Maryland's own.
Drink this: When you're in the mood for spicy food. Or recovering from scurvy.
