Christopher Schafer designs three-piece suits for Ravens and Orioles as part of his eponymous tailoring business (deemed "best" by Baltimore magazine and City paper). The 39-year-old Perry Hall resident operates the Hour Haus music studio in Station North. He drums. Oh, and last year, he launched the nonprofit Baltimore Fashion Alliance. On Thursday evening, the alliance presents Fashion's Night Out, an annual celebration of fashion and shopping — originally launched in New York by Vogue's Anna Wintour — that includes tastings and events at shops, as well as a designer showcase at the InterContinental/Harbor Court Hotel. What song are you loving right now? "Modern Art" by Black Lips. It's a super-catchy tune. Makes me put down the windows and drive fast.
Last gig you went to? I am the drummer in a band called Condor. We played the BiMA.fest VIP Party at the Hour Haus [last month]. It's always fun to get loud and rock out.
Favorite look for fall? You never go wrong with a pinstriped, three-piece suit when dressing up. On the casual side, I like earth-tone patterned jackets with jeans.
Trend that has exceeded its natural lifespan? Guys wearing Keds shoes. It should have really never started in the first place.
Favorite designer? I have to say Christopher Schafer Clothier. The guy knows what he is doing. Anything else feels not quite right, trust me. (Editor's note: Heh.)
Last movie you liked/disliked? Liked the "King's Speech" very much. It made me miss London a lot, though. [Schafer learned tailoring while overseas.]
Last video that made you snort with laughter? Watching home videos of my youngest son play his plastic red guitar. He has some great songs so far … "Ocean City" and "Hurricane Irene" are smash hits.
Favorite book you recently read? "The London Cut." It's about past and present Savile Row tailors. Lots of interesting stories about the inhabitants of the legendary street.
Last great meal you had? My wife made pasta with homemade pesto using herbs from our garden. It had incredible flavor. The girl has skills in the kitchen.
Food you hate? Broccoli and cauliflower. They both smell funny to me.
Favorite place to get a drink? Joe Squared is a happening place most any day of the week.
Favorite store? Guitar Center in Towson. They have so much great music equipment, I'm like a kid in a candy store.
