If you're like us, you're itching for Tiki Barge weather. If you're bartender Megan Morstein, it's already started. It's the Columbia native's second season serving drinks on the Barge, and she could not be more excited.
"[Tiki Barge] is the only place in Baltimore where it doesn't feel like you're in Baltimore anymore," she said. Now living not far from the Barge in Federal Hill, Morstein is also a Title 1 research teacher and provides Baltimore private school children with extra support in reading or math. Morstein, 24, talks to b about her disdain for false eyelashes and the craziest thing she has seen at the barge.
Worst pet peeve?
I hate it when people constantly complain. Get over it.
What song are you hating and/or loving right now?
I am loving "Pickin' Wildflowers" by Keith Anderson.
Your worst habit?
Probably buying things that I never wear. From shoes that hurt my feet to shirts I swore looked good on me. It always seems like a good idea at the time.
Trend that has exceeded its natural lifespan?
Fake eyelashes. Sorry, but you're not fooling anyone.
Favorite drink to make at the Tiki Barge?
Probably an Orange Crush, which is also one of our most popular drinks.
Craziest thing you've seen while working?
The craziest thing was probably the day of the really big ocean earthquake. A wave came up the harbor that rocked the Barge so much that people's shoes and belongings were falling into the harbor.
Favorite/least favorite band?
My favorite band of all time would probably have to be Jethro Tull. I don't know if you would consider them a band, but I would have to say the Pussycat Dolls is definitely my least favorite.
Last movie you liked/disliked?
The last movie I saw was "Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 1," and I loved it!
Last video that made you snort with laughter?
Pearl Jam's 'Yellow Ledbetter' Misheard lyrics
Favorite book you recently read?
"My Horizontal Life," by Chelsea Handler. It is hysterical.
Last great meal you had?
It was probably at Meli in Fells Point. Not only was the surf and turf delicious, but they had live acoustic music, which created an amazing atmosphere.
Food you hate?
Favorite and most loathed fashion statements?
I love anything bohemian looking. I hate jean skirts with leggings.
Favorite thing about Baltimore?
The small-town feeling. I have learned that 90 percent of the time if you meet someone new, they know someone you know.
