In his column, "Battle Plans," Dev Panchwagh covers the Ravens' biggest offensive and defensive keys to victory for popular blog Russell Street Report.
"My main goal is to analyze the matchups and break down where the Ravens can gain an edge against their opponents," said Panchwagh, 30, who has been writing for Russell Street Report since 2004. Panchwagh, who's originally from Columbia and now lives in White Marsh, was an analyst for scout.com before coming to Russell Street Report. As tPanchwagh prepares to get very, very busy, he ttalked to us about his favorite Ravens moment, cube-shaped cars and more.
Worst pet peeve? Bad manners. I really think good manners are becoming a rarity in our society. .
What song/songs are you loving/hating right now? One of my favorite songs on the radio is "Get Lucky" by Pharrell and Daft Punk. I could listen to that track all day. I'm not exactly a Bruno Mars fan, so he's squarely on my skip list.
Your worst habit? I'm not sure if you'd call it a habit, but I do a terrible job of giving directions to a destination. Fortunately, I have gotten somewhat better at following directions.
Trend that has exceeded its natural lifespan? Cube-shaped cars. They look like refrigerators on wheels.
Last movie you liked/disliked? I loved "This is the End." One of the funniest movies I've seen.
Favorite Ravens moment? Even though the moment is still fresh, I have to go with the defensive goal-line stand in the Super Bowl. For everything the organization went through to get to that point, to have it all come down to making four stops, it was amazing to see them buckle down and persevere. That stand epitomized what the Ravens are all about.
Favorite Ravens player (past or present)? Jamal Lewis in his prime remains one of my favorites. His combination of power and speed was off the charts.
TV show(s) you can't get enough of? I'm a huge fan of "The Sopranos," but today, I can't get enough of "Mad Men."
Favorite and most loathed fashion statement? I'm not too crazy about the big-framed, nerdy glasses. My favorite fashion statement is the vest/tie look.
Last great meal you had? At Liberatore's in White Marsh, I had one of the best spaghetti and meatballs meals I can remember.
Favorite place to get a drink in Baltimore? Brewer's Art in Mount Vernon. They have a great atmosphere and it's a Baltimore staple.
Best advice you ever got? To keep pursuing my passions in life and never give up on them.
Favorite thing about Baltimore? The Fells Point waterfront area. It's my favorite spot to hang out in the city.
