He appreciates history, too. A couple years ago, Strals purchased two reprints by Baltimore's Globe Poster Co., which was known for creating bold and colorful concert posters for more than 80 years. Strals, an accomplished modern poster maker, says the Globe's influence on his work, particularly the hand-lettering, is obvious and intentional. "Not to sound egotistical but I hope that my work is, in a way, continuing that tradition of having concert posters with these loud colors and have this really energetic and expressive hand-lettering on it," Strals said.
