On the road

Why is it that people will drive from the city to the county and vice versa, but driving from Canton to Fed Hill and vice versa is such an exhausting investment to locals? -- Chris F., Canton

For many people, myself among them, cars were meant to be driven on scenic, open highways. Even a not-so-scenic, not-so-open highway is pretty OK if you have the right music, companions or predisposition toward schizophrenia. The thought of operating a vehicle on a narrow, potholed street, flanked by crookedly-parked cars, constantly on the lookout for those harbingers of destruction, the Bike Riders ... well, it's stomach ulcer fodder, if you ask me. And hey, you did! -- Lyndsay Webb
