Roundtop offers year-round paintball on more than 11 different courses, with rental packages starting at $41. What's new for 2013: There's new children's rental equipment, upgraded lodge WiFi and a renovated interior in Children's Center. Dining/drinking options: Inside the resort, the Fireside Pub & Grill offers lunch and dinner overlooking the slope. Rates: Midweek/non-holiday $37-$64; weekend/holiday, $37-$70 Classes: Roundtop offers a First Class Learn to Ski/Snowboard program, where you can receive a lesson, lift ticket and rentals for a discounted price. Lodging options: If you insist on staying in a hotel, check out the Courtyard by Marriott in Gettysburg, 10 miles away from the mountain. Looking to go the B&B route? Blair Mountain, Canna Country Inn and Colonial Crossroads, among others, are all less than 10 miles away, some as close as 5 miles from the slopes. A stay at Blair Mountain includes full breakfast, 24/7 full service homemade bread and soups, and whirlpools in every room. Cann Country Inn also offers a full breakfast, as well as guest kitchen access and discounted lift tickets. Colonial Crossroads offers much of the same modern amenities with the historic feel of a 1790 tavern. Special events: The Cardboard Derby on Jan. 26 is a hilarious contest for participants and spectators alike. Watch as teams, divided into youth and adult divisions, construct and race wacky cardboard contraptions down the slopes. On Feb. 8, the Ski 4 Life ski and snowboard marathon will get underway at the mountain, so consider forming a team and racing to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
