Tom McMillen, congressman

<a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORSPT000188" title="Maryland Terrapins" href="/topic/sports/college-sports/maryland-terrapins-ORSPT000188.topic">Terps</a> great Tom McMillen, the nation's most heavily recruited high school basketball player when he chose to attend UM in 1970, graduated in 1974 and went on to play in the NBA for Buffalo, New York, Atlanta and Washington.  He served in the <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORGOV0000131" title="U.S. Congress" href="/topic/politics/government/u.s.-congress-ORGOV0000131.topic">U.S. Congress</a> from 1987-1993, as a Democrat representing Maryland's 4th district.
